Takushi on Toshiba’s bid for Westinghouse – Nuclear Power in USA, UK & China

Takushi on Bloomberg TV: Toshiba’s bid for Westinghouse from Revivalist Films on Vimeo.

According to Christian Toshiba has started a strategic move into Nuclear Power, both construction and maintenance. It shall prove to be more stable cash flows than the current NAND flash andIT hardware businesses. Looking at the global trends, he recommends that Toshiba shifts to power generation, where there is long term demand and that it pulls out of consumer electronics, where it has been long surpassed.
He sees great demand for Nuclear Power generation form China in the years to come and that given trends in demand, technology and decommissioning – Westinghouse’s technology is well suited to benefit from secular demand from the USA and China (final demand may depend on geopolitical factors though). By taking over Westinghouse, Toshiba takes a bold but strategic & sensible step into the future. He thinks the price is elevated and that (rather short-sighted) markets will struggle to fully understand and support the transaction.
