Promoting Ethics: Managing conflicts of interest

Milestone in the Financial Industry: Prof. Jenkins and Mr. Rohrer address financial professionals in Geneva

One of the CFA Initiatives Christian co-launched in the Financial Industry: Thanks to the leadership of Mrs Christina Rulfs (CFA Director Europe) and Dr. Tony Tan (head of Financial Market Integrity, CFA Institute) and the gracious support of CFA Institute leaders in Switzerland, UK, Hong Kong and USA a series of European Ethics CFA Seminars focusing on “Managing Conflicts of Interest” was launched. The pilot seminar took place in Geneva on 21 May 2014.

Key speakers were Prof. Robert Jenkins (London Business School) and Mr. Hans Peter Rohrer (Swiss banker). Financial centers like Zurich and national societies like Germany and Belgium have announced they will soon run the seminar too. Participants were encouraged by the open discussion of difficulties, errors and solutions. The personal testimony of Mr. Rohrer touched all attendants and encouraged many to share their own experiences during the networking session.

The CFA Institute comprises more than 113’000 members worldwide and is the leading organization in the Global Financial Industry, setting standards for best practice and ethics. After years of accompanying and coaching financial professionals during trying times and seeing the need for genuine transformation, Christian Takushi started to promote initiatives at the CFA Institute that aim at supporting industry members. Swiss CFA leaders Christian Dreyer (CEO) and Phillip Sundquist (member of the board) supported this initiative from the beginning and gave it the full organizational support of the CFA Society in Switzerland.
